“Defeated by members of the Losers’ Club, the evil clown Pennywise returns 27 years later to terrorize the town of Derry, Maine, once again.”

Can we start by saying: CASTING! Absolute perfection. Each member of the Losers’ Club was fit perfectly with child and adult actors. I mean, it also helps that James McAvoy is one of my celeb crushes.

Chapter 2 brings us back to Derry where the 27 year gap has passed and the deaths begin again. The Losers’ Club has spread out to live their lives, seemingly without any memory of what they had survived.

I actually started to wonder how much I remember from being that age. I mean, I highly doubt I’ve forgotten a psychotic clown, but still. Except for those with an eidetic memory, we all let memories slip aside.

There are so many good jump scares in this movie and while it has a high gore factor, the gore here makes sense. And I think that the gore factor feels nicely cut by Richie’s trash mouth.

SPOILERS FROM HERE

In the end, we control our fear. Our reality is what we make it. But it’s a long, hard journey to get there. Once the Losers’ Club realizes where Pennywise gets his true power, they take it back. Because that power resides within all of us.

But is it just me, or is the tiny clown version of Pennywise even more creepy?
