“A family’s home is haunted by a host of demonic ghosts.”
Where to begin? This is one of my favorite movies. Though it may b e a “horror” movie, the beautiful story of the family trying to save their daughter is what keeps me watching over and over.
The acting makes you fall right into this family dynamic with little Carol-Anne right at the forefront. The paranormal situations are at first something small and even playful. And who doesn’t like a little playful activity?
Every little happy suburban neighborhood has its secrets. There is always something beneath the surface. Spielberg takes this to a whole new level.
SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT
The relocation of the gravestones being moved without the actual bodies plays right into America’s need to just bulldoze over the past as long as money can be made. But we can’t hide from what has always been here.
The other that took me a couple of watches to get was that Carol-Anne was born IN that house. She was a part of their energy from birth.
People have called this film cursed because two of the actresses have died. Their deaths were not part of a curse. They were part of some man’s jealousy and some doctor’s oversight. I refuse to demean their death with a rumor around a movie.
