“A sardonic hardware store clerk is accidentally transported to 1300 A.D., where he must retrieve the Necronomicon and battle an army of the dead so he can return home.”

Okay, so I know this is technically the third movie in the Evil Dead franchise, but this classic can stand on its own. Hail to the king, baby.

In contract to the first Evil Dead movie, you know right away that this movie is going to be something along the lines of zombies via slapstick. If you try to take this movie as a super serious horror film, you will entirely miss the point and the amazing one-man show that is Bruce Campbell.

Beyond the epic one-liners, Raimi treats us to dynamic camera angles and almost Romero-worthy zombie effects. Then on top of that he folds in little tiny versions of Ash that dance around?

The main plot is that Ash needs to retrieve the Necronomicon in order to return to his own time and the life he knows. Oh, and if that book falls into the wrong hands, the evil Deadites will take over.

SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT

I mean, spoilers? Really? Almost every horror movie junkie knows this movie. But still.

Ash in the ultimate anti-hero and his annoyed journey leads him to help face off against the evil army and his spawned evil clone.

Boom sticks. Pillow talk. Primitive screw-heads.

Bruce. Campbell.
