“A nerdy florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.”
I mean, there are so many horror movies in the world but very little musical upbeat feel good ones. She here we go!
Alien plants and butchering of humans? What could be better? Oh, a love story and catchy tunes, that’s what!
There is so much to say that can’t be said. The practical effects and acting are so on point that you almost forget there is a blood thirsty alien plant trying to take over hworls.
As with any horror movies, there should be some form of message and believe it or not, there is a message here as well. this movies is a metaphor for abuse in my eyes. And I’m not just talking about the black eye that Audrey sports, no. I’m talking about how Seymour is constantly having to feed the urges of Audrey II.
SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT
DId you know that in the original movie, there isn’t really a happy ending? Audrey is supposed to die! No!
Luckily, the director went with a kinder ending that still gave us a bit of an opening with the baby plant hiding in the garden.
