Plot/Acting

“Years following the events of The Shining (1980), a now-adult Dan Torrance must protect a young girl with similar powers from a cult known as The True Knot, who prey on children with powers to remain immortal.”

Forty years. Forty years of carrying a gift you can’t return. Forty years of thinking no one else would be able to understand. But sometimes the people who understand don’t have the same intentions.

Sometimes good horror doesn’t need the gore. Intention and the things we cannot see can be the most frightening.

I grew up knowing why people turned to alcohol. But seeing Danny Torrence and the hole he fell down really hit home. How would you be coping with being able to see the darkest reaches of death?

But we can choose what we do with our “gifts.” I really enjoyed seeing Andy take advantage of pedophiles and making them pay.

The very base of this movie is that there are two sides to every coin. We much choose what side we’re on.

SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT

Everything runs full circle. Danny’s return to the Overlook is not just a way to defeat Rose but a way to find himself again.

Abra’s conversation with Danny after he dies helps to solidify that there is always a balance. And so her Shine is needed in the dark.

Also, I may have a celeb crush on Ewan. Shh.
