“Carrie White is a lonely and painfully shy teenage girl with telekinetic powers who is slowly pushed to the edge of insanity by frequent bullying from both her classmates and her domineering, religious mother.”
Wait. Wait. WAIT! I knew about the original move and the remake with Chloe Grace Moretz but no one told me of this “B” class remake they tried in 2002. How did this get under my radar? There are even a couple of my fave horror actresses in here.
I have to say, though, in the pivotal scene of Carrie getting her first period, the cinematography and music almost make it seem… comedic. The direct chose to use these diagonal angles and cheesy dialog which took away from the trauma she felt.
There there are these “flashbacks” where she makes meteors hit the house? Again, done in these odd angles make it feel like they’re more making fun of the actual story that started it all.
This whole movie plays like a bad after school special and the way they play it you don’t even have sympathy for Sue. Ugh.
They’re trying this post-incident police interrogation view mixes with Carrie’s flashback and it feels… well, like a fumbling teenager on pro night.
SPOILERS?
Are there spoilers? I’m sorry. This is just like a third grade intro to horror.
