“It’s been eight years since the opening night tragedy of Hell House, LLC and still many unanswered questions remain. Thanks to an anonymous tip, investigative journalist Jessica Fox is convinced that key evidence is hidden inside the abandoned Abaddon Hotel-evidence that will shed light on the hotel’s mysteries. She assembles a team equally hungry for answers with one goal: break into the hotel and discover the truth.”
Found footage sequels. Ah, yes. If the first movie is found footage, how do you justify the second movie also being found footage? Investigative journalism! I get that they were trying for some sort of trilogy but even the first sequel to the Blair Witch Project understood that trying to piggy-back that found footage vibe is hard to do.
We’re given three different found footage styles in one movie: the new broadcast, the investigative reporting and social media snippets. Let’s take those one at a time here.
The social media snippets. Okay, I can buy that. A lot of influencers may try to get views bey getting into forbidden haunted locations. So, that sort of compiled footage could make sense.
The “investigative” journalism. Gotta take a deep breath here. The acting for this portion seems so… wooden? It’s what you expect but don’t want to expect. Does that make sense?
The broadcast interview is a green screen nightmare. Enough said.
SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT.
Okay, okay. You got me on this one. I knew the hotel still wanted people to feed off of but I did not see the dead founder of the hotel being on the morning show interview.
Also, insert obligatory psychic with planchet. Bleh.
One more Hell House to go.
