“Possessed by a spirit in a dying cornfield, twelve-year-old Eden recruits the other children in her small town to go on a bloody rampage and kill all the adults.”
Thirty-eight minutes in and there are still adults alive. That’s new.
This version is more focused on the environmental impact of chemicals on crops. They also bring up the interesting fact that some molds the develop on corn actually have a hallucinogenic effect.
I have a hard time with slow burn movies. It’s always good to have some character development but it feels like in doing so much character work, the plot gets muddled.
The other big difference in that rather than worshiping the corn, they do this Alice in Wonderland “Red Queen” thing. Instead of the kids sacrificing themselves at a certain after or making corn crosses, these kids are killing for the right to vote in town meetings.
SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT
Okay, so they made a CGI monster for “He Who Walks” but it takes from the mystery. To be hones, this really just felt like a made for TV movie. If you watch the original first, it just doesn’t have the same… I don’t know how to put it. I just didn’t like it.
