“Two young couples traveling across the backwoods of Texas searching for urban legends of murder end up as prisoners of a bizarre and sadistic backwater family of serial killers.”
Though we have talked about Rob Zombie movies, we haven’t stopped to digest his directorial debut that has turned into a series of serial killer mayhem.
There is a lot of gore, a lot of psychedelic imagery and a lot of…. well, dead people.
This is a very intense movie to watch and if you are more of a “fluffy” horror fan, your stomach may not like this. At one point a victim is attached to a fish tale as a piece of art and his girlfriends get to see that display.
And yes, Rob Zombie’s wife is a lead who shows off her ass.
I mean, the movie is meant to open us up to the Firefly family and Rob Zombie’s style of directing but aside from that, it’s hard to find a real plot to follows. Killers kill. That’s the plot with a lot of gore.
SPOILERS FROM HERE
To be honest, this is the least favorite of the Zombie flicks for me. It feels messy and like he hadn’t quite found hid footing.
There is no real ending. No one gets away. The bad guys even kill the cops and Zombie himself puts a question mark at the end of the film. I almost want to call this “House of 1,000 Questions.”
Good thing this was his first run. Only up from here.
