“A television reporter and her cameraman are trapped inside a building quarantined by the CDC, after the outbreak of a mysterious virus which turns humans into bloodthirsty killers.”
I had actually heard of this movie before it’s predecessor ([REC].) This is the Americanized English version.
There is a little more pre-story at the firehouse to help you attach to the characters some but then it leaps right to the plot.
How much can you trust the government? Again, that is a huge question as the characters in the movie are quarantined by the CDC and yet no measure are taken to actually help them inside. And when a CDC officer finally does enter, he reveals that they were clued in by a vet was taking care of a dog from building. And the vet who lives there had even said that the victims were exhibiting accelerated rabies style symptoms.
SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT
This is almost a completely exact replica of the Spanish version except they end up in the basement instead of the attic and there is a doomsday cult responsible for the zombies.
For this movie, it makes sense. A doomsday cult in LA makes more sense here than a botched exorcism.
To be honest, I actually prefer the Spanish version. They have way to much “hysterical woman” acting in this version.
