“A troubled evangelical minister agrees to let his last exorcism be filmed by a documentary crew.”
So, is it really the “last” if you know that there is a sequel?
Welcome back to found footage! But this time it’s not someone trying to capture some sort of paranormal activity. Nay. This is about someone who wants to expose people who take advantage of those with strong beliefs. And it was kind of creepy at the beginning how you see how intensely some people will just believe and go with the flow. (Banana bread.)
He also spends a good deal of time to talk about how his exorcisms may not have been a removal of a physical demon, but how the act of the exorcism mentally provides what they ned to release that metaphor in their head.
It also bring sup the very heartfelt reason why he wants to get out – children have died because of botched “exorcisms.”
I have to say that a lot of his exorcism trucks are pretty clever and I bet that in most situations they would convince someone they were freed.
Until this.
SPOILERS FROM HERE
I am pretty proud that throughout the entire movie, Cotton still tries to get Nell proper medical care. It isn’t until the very last sequence where he finally realized that there is a demon (who just happens to be named the same as the one he picked out of the book.)
I guess this was Cotton’s last exorcism even though we get to see what happened to Nell in the seqeul.
