“When a freak hurricane swamps Los Angeles, nature’s deadliest killer rules sea, land, and air as thousands of sharks terrorize the waterlogged populace.”

You may say that it’s not a horror film but if it’s on “The Last Drive In,” I’m counting it.

I was on the fence about doing this one but then it was family movie night and my nine year old nephew asked about it. You can’t say no to a cute kid’s face.

This movie became a social media phenomena and surprised everyone as it even got Tweeted by Mia Farrow. But why It’s not big budget special effects, it’s totally not any form of scientifically accurate but the script gave it a strange form of like with actors who went all in on their characters.

The opening confused me, though. It’s some shark fishing trolly boat making a shady poaching deal and it’s never mentioned again. It just showed the first casualties. So, I mean was that for the little bit of irony?

My favorite character is Nova. She’s quick thinking, brave and sarcastic. In other words she’s like me but attractive.

SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT

Yes, there are “spoilers” for Sharknado. But it’s just one I have to bring up at the very end.

The big finally – heh, Fin-ally – where he jumps into a great white, survives, then cuts himself out.

BUT!!!!

It’s the shark that swallowed Nova? And she’s alive!

Ah, Sharknado.
