“For their ghost hunting reality show, a production crew locks themselves inside an abandoned mental hospital that’s supposedly haunted – and it might prove to be all too true.”

In the 2000’s, there was a boom in the paranormal investigation “documentary” series. This movie pulls those shows out and says “what if this isn’t TV anymore?”

Bonus points for the film showing how they pulled in things like the “psychic.” It makes you see a little of how shows that claim to be completely real will be more than willing to pull strings when they know it will get your attention.

Do we dismiss the dead and the trauma of what they went through in order to get ratings?

Mental hospitals would seem to be a prime location for tortured spirits since the past treatments for mental illness were really nothing other than torture.

SPOILERS FROM HERE

I love how one of the most chicken of the characters is the fake psychic. His death gave me a chuckle.

It never becomes day. Is that a nod to the eternal darkness the spirits may be trapped in? And I loved the ever shifting rooms with no way out.

They wanted a paranormal experience.

Careful what you wish for.
