“The spectre of a disfigured man haunts the children of the parents who murdered him, stalking and killing them in their dreams.”
There has been an uptick in trying to remake horror classics. Yes, special effects and cinematography have evolved but does that mean it makes the actual movie better? On this one, I have to give a hard “no.”
While Jackie Earle Haley us indeed a good actor, there was something to Freddy that only Robert Englund could capture.
I’m also unimpressed with some of the CGI work. Like the liquified wall? That was so much more realistic with practical special effects. It was almost like they were trying to make up for the lack of character development with CGI. Didn’t work.
In the original movie, Nancy was a strong, independent fighter that kept you cheering the entire way. This version leaned on her male counterpart a little too much for my liking,
SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT
Yes, Nancy was finally the one to pull Freddy into the real world and kill him but I don’t know. Bt that pint, there weren’t any other outcome possibilities. What I mean by that is, in the original, she brought him back in her house where there were tons of options the story could take.
I don’t know. I really just felt underwhelmed by the whole movie.
