“A psychiatrist familiar with knife-wielding dream demon Freddy Krueger helps teens at a mental hospital battle the killer who is invading their dreams.”

After the last two Elm Street reviews, I really needed to get back to what made Freddy unique and interesting. And her in the third movie, Wes Craven returned to the script and helped that happen.

The third Nightmare brought back the true essence of Freddy: exacting his torment by using their dreams against them. And instead of just the parents not believing, it’s now an entire mental institution.

An institution that a now grown Nancy has come to work on her fiend of study – dreams. And she’s shielded herself with a drug in experimental phases to repress dreams.

However, these teens have discovered a new way to fight Freddy. Just as he has powers in the dream world – so do they.

SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT

My only beef isn’t really a beef. What I mean is the death of Nancy. I love that character so much but her death had to happen to rally the strength the other teens had in them.

Ah, I feel better with a proper Freddy movie…
