“A family’s serene beach vacation turns to chaos when their doppelgängers appear and begin to terrorize them.”

“Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.” -Jeremiah 11:11

I had to watch this move three times before writing this review. Not because it was hard to understand but because after the first time, I had to go back and see what I missed, then the third time all the pieces fell together and all I could think was that Jordan Peele has his finger on the pulse of what fear really is. It’s not he gore or the jump scares. It’s wen we begin to question our entire reality.

We are who we are based on various circumstances in our lives. Peele asks the question about whether we deserve that life. What if we didn’t have the chances we were given in the light. What if we were confined to live in the darkness?

MAJOR SPOILERS FROM HERE

Are we both our actions and the actions of those shadows tethered to our lives? The thought of a nationwide government experiment to control us by the side we don’t truly see is horrifying.

And the last five minutes? WHAT THE HELL??? This whole.. this WHOLE TIME? The whole time the clone was… are you shitting me??

This is why I had to keep watching it.
