“A mother gives her 13-year-old son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.”
Yet another remake. The two protagonists are still Karen and Andy Barkley bust aside from there being a doll… nope.
This version of the story focuses more on modern themes of AI and the dependence on technology. If this is the first version you’ve seen, then you won’t have the bias I seem to.
So, let me try and start fresh on this one.
First off, I love the fact they made Mark Hamill the voice of Chucky. And to be honest, the doll looks way creepier.
Artificial intelligence is a territory that is still being explore. However, things like Alexa and Google pose the question of how much control we give technology over our everyday functions. in this movie, having that overall connection to your world is deadly.
SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT
Are they spoilers though? Completely predictable, the faulty homicidal doll connects to other devices to ensure his connection with Andy and no one will believe it until the final big mass murdering at the end.
Eh. Okay.
