“A young priest is sent to Rome to investigate the troubling death of the head of his order.”
Ah yes, the movie I refer to as “A Knight’s Tale loans its cast to a horror movie.” At least three of the mains, that is. This was one of the main reasons that I watched it in the first place.
It is well known throughout many cinematic tales that there is supposed to be only one way into Heaven according to the Catholic Church and that is to be absolved by one of their ordained priests. Here, there is a supposed second, secret, option.
Even within the Catholic Church, there are subdivisions referred to as – you guessed it – orders. However, this movie has made their own fictitious one which contains our dear friends Heath Ledger and Mark Addy. Their order, the Carolingians, are a dwindling order that specializes in demons and other Hell-spawn. When one of their own passes under strange circumstances, they investigate and come upon an interesting hiccup. A “Sin-Eater.”
SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT
Love and revenge. Insanity and insight. Right and wrong. All of this is questioned as we see why the Sin-Eater does what he does. And why Alex was put in hie path.
So even though fictitious, it makes you wonder about the Church’s position on them being the only way into “Heaven.”
