“A madman who believes he’s a doctor comes to the town where his crazy father was killed, and soon begins murdering people and becoming infatuated with a teenage girl who has a heart condition.”
When Shudder told me that the “Last Drive In” was showing this, I squeed. This was one of the few movies I remembered as the beginning of my love of horror. I think I was twelve or thirteen when I stayed the night at my friend’s house and we hit “play” on the VCR.
Side note: You get the bonus of Holly Marie Combs – pre “Charmed.”
The bonus here is that the whole fiasco takes place in one night with a load of stereotypical horror characters to be killed. Oh, and technically the black couple died second so… progress?
An escaped mental patient who was the son of an insane doctor, a damsel with a frail heart condition, a rookie cop who knows the truth and just has to do something about it…. classic.
So many puns. So many. And then you top it off with the “but wait, he’s not really dead” trope and you have a… okay not a great movie. But if you’re looking for nostalgic early 90’s horror, here you go.
