“A father and daughter accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.”

Yes, ladies and gentlemen. This is the actual “F around and find out” of mystical creatures. While today’s stories show unicorns as docile and friendly horses with horns, mythology around the unicorn shows that while they do represent pure light – they will bring darkness to those who disrespect it.

You give me Jenna Ortega, Paul Rudd, Tea Leoni and Will Poulter in a satire style representation of the horror that comes with mankind’s need for power? I’m in!

The father/daughter dynamic between the two protagonists is mirrored with the foul/mare relationship of the unicorns. And the power of the horn is literally used as a drug metaphor for man’s greed. The pure temptation of that power leads a family to lash out at each other for the “control” of that power.

And also, these unicorns have TEETH.

The kill scenes are creative, the plot has character depth and the moral of the story gives you something to think aboutt.

MAJOR SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT

Okay, the ending. Let’s talk. I love it.

When the unicorns are escorting the police car I was all “Aw, they’re making sure he’s safe.” Then he goes to wave and they see the handcuffs on him.

Oh, boy.

The eyes of the unicorn tell it all. He had gained their respect. They were not going to let him be a capture.
