“An American journalist on assignment in the Australian outback encounters a man-eating crocodile while trapped on a rapidly flooding mud island.”

Ah yes, the animal attack movie genre. From Cujo to Jaws, large animals and the threat they pose are a key instinctual scare in the human mind. And there are an abundance of them. So why this one? Well, the animal… isn’t seen that much. That’s reminiscent of Jaws in my mind. Like Jaws, the very first kill doesn’t even feature our antagonistic beast. Instead, this movie gives you tension. It gives you good acting and the “how would I act in this scenario?” vibe. The scenery is BEAUTIFUL which is the Australian landscape for you.

And I spotted that Moto Razr! Ah, the good old days.

Be prepared for a few tear jerking moments. In the opening scenes, there’s even a man paying tribute to his deceased wife and scattering her ashes in the river. That’s why I say this movie gives you so much character development.

Interesting side notes are made about crocodile. For one, crocks don’t just hunt when they’re hungry. If they’ve found a spot with some good grub, they’ll hunt and store it. They watch their prey and learn their habits. Opportunistic. Kind of like some of the people I’ve dated. Ha.

SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT

Okay, so yes, I picked a picture with Sam Worthington, but don’t get too attached. He’s not the heroic protagonist you saw in the remake of Clash of the Titans. He dead, yo. And at about halfway through.
