“Death is stalking Kimberly Corman and multiple survivors of a deadly highway accident.”

Welcome to Final Destination film that we all recall the beginning of. This is the movie that made us look at logging trucks more suspiciously (or completely avoid).

Also, props to Ali Larter’s character Clear for finding a good hair stylist in a mental ward that made from from mousy brunette to hot blonde.

Now let’s be real. There is only one real reason we love this series: the elaborate death scenes. So instead of a traditional review, I’m going to list out the deaths and talk about those! Also, I love that most of these are practical effects.

DEATH SCENE SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT:

  1. The initial accident: This time it’s a traffic pileup that gives Kim her vision and her car buddies die in. While entertaining, it’s just the opener so it’s just a taste test.
  2. Evan: The “lucky” guy who had not just survived a horrific accident but had won the lotto the day before. I have to admit, I had money on it being something from his new and flashy toys that would take him out but I’m impressed that he was killed by something that was supposed to help save you in an emergency.
  3. Tim: Everyone already has the creeps about the dentist’s office. Nice misdirects, though. We knew a pigeon would be involved so when each individual one is introduced. Now, was this he died because she warned him or would he had died either way? Squish!
  4. Nora: Oh I do love elevators. And here we are once again in a spot of which came first, the chicken or the egg? She wouldn’t have bent down if the call hadn’t happened. But they called her when they got death’s clue.
  5. Kat: One of the best lines happens just before her death. Again, a life saving tool (literally the jaws of life) are to blame. Before she dies, the firefighter jested that he’d put them on silent mode before triggering her airbag and her death.
  6. Rory: Trickle effect here. Kat’s lit cigarette trails down to fuel, blowing up and making a fence into a multi-slicer. This one happened so quick you didn’t really expect it so soon.
  7. Eugene/Clear: The one who almost made it. When he’s transported to the hospital and we think Kim has figured out the kink in death’s plan, Clear celebrates too early, opening a door and triggering an oxygen tank explosion that wipes the duo out.
  8. Kim: The death that wasn’t death. I like the self sacrifice idea. She wasn’t meant to be resuscitated so her new life after drowning is the key. (Maybe.)

There you have it. Death wanted to tie up the loose ends from Flight 180 in the first movie. But is death ever really done?
