“Detective Angela approaches Constantine, a demon hunter, to help her investigate her twin sister’s mysterious death. As he digs deeper, he realizes that demons are trying to enter the human world.”

GIMMI, GIMMI, GIMMI!

Okay, okay. Let’s see where to begin with this. Because this is one of my all time favorite movies. Keanu Reeves? Rachel Weisz? Tilda Swinton? And that’s just the actors I love. Let’s talk the antiheroes. This is one of my favorites style of character because it makes them a bit more relatable, drawing us in. Constantine is a mortal man who’s seen to much and knows just where his life – or death – is headed. And he goes about what I think any of us would do: He tries to change that path.

The dynamic among Constantine and his friends shows how gifts vary in many ways and those ways may be more of a danger than a blessing. It also tried to look at Christian mythology to show the Devil and God just using humans as a wager for control of the Earth. It also explored the believers and the skeptics. Rachel Weisz’s character is a no-nonsense cop that deals in fact but then gets thrust into this world of the supernatural.

There are “Half-breeds” that are either half-angel or half-demon that walk the Earth giving influence here and there. But there is something new happening that seems to be a bigger plot.

Okay, so this is going to be hard to type without spoilers so I’m putting the marker here.

SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT

The theory of twins sharing abilities is not just a paranormal but a psychic theory and when Weisz’s character finally admits to the abilities, the action is non-stop.

And I have to give two MAJOR props to the acting of Djimon Hounsou as Papa Midnite and Peter Stormare as Lucifer (or as Constantine jested “Hi, Lue.” The acting is ON POINT and you feel the power in these two characters.

You know what? No more spoilers on this one. Nope. Because you HAVE TO SEE IT!!
